Course and Hourly Outline

Hot Stone in Massage Therapy, is a course designed to teach the basics and fundamentals of hot stone therapy and how it should be integrated into your current massage practice. With hot stone very commonly no longer being taught within registered programs, it is important to learn this program with hot stone massage being one of the most common and popular additions to registered massage therapy. Learning some history of the origins of hot stone, benefits, risks, and more theoretical information, we delve deep into the equipment, setup, and most importantly the practical application. With every therapist treating differently it is vital to have extensive hands on practice to find the best ways hot stone massage will benefit yourself and your practice. 

WHAT TO BRING:

~shorts/loose fitting clothing to make hands on treatments more accessible

~water bottle for hydration due to excessive heat during practical

**access for refills will be available

~ one set of linens for your personal use, a blanket, and carrier oil

WE SUPPLY - hot stones, warmers, bowls, cleaners and other supplies

Hour Breakdown (16 hours total)

Hour 1: Introduction to the course, meeting the teacher and students. Course expectations.

Hour 1 through 4: Pages 1-9 of the outline provided including Q and A.

Hour 4: Demo of Equipment and Setup

30 minute Lunch Break

Hour 5 through 8: In person demo of all designated areas: back, arms, hips, legs, feet and hands, neck and chest, face and tmj, and abdomen. Includes Q and A.

Hour 8 through 10: In person demo of all designated areas: back, arms, hips, legs, feet and hands, neck and chest, face and tmj, and abdomen. Includes Q and A.

Hour 10 through 13: Peer Practice under Teaching Instruction/Supervision

30 minute Lunch Break

Hour 13 through 16: Peer Practice under Teaching Instruction/Supervision
